Androgeo fu ucciso. Minosse, re di Creta, stabilì che gli ateniesi autori della morte del figlio, gli consegnassero ogni anno sette bambine e sette bambini. Questi fanciulli sarebbero stati sacrificati, dati in pasto al Minotauro, il figliastro di Minosse, mezzo uomo e mezzo toro rinchiuso per sempre nel labirinto di Dedalo.
L’artista prosegue il suo interesse non verso il mito, ma verso il simbolo del toro per l’economia americana e quindi mondiale. Presicce ha infatti da poco concluso un periodo di residenza presso lo studio program di Artist Alliance inc a New York dove ha realizzato una performance dal titolo The birth of the Minotaure. Gli intenti della performance erano evidentemente rivolti verso quello che oggi é diventata l’immagine del toro per Wall Street e la conseguente ricaduta di questo immaginario nella reale deriva esasperatamente economica del mondo dell’arte. Quando lo scultore italiano Arturo Di Modica nottetempo installó abusivamente il suo enorme toro in bronzo alle porte di quella che é la sede del traffico monetario mondiale, non immaginava neanche che questa non sarebbe mai stata rimossa né che sarebbe diventata l’emblema di una società economica galoppante. Il termine bull indica oggi che le azioni sono in salita! L’artista in questa nuova performance si occupa del mito del Minotauro, ma senza avere un reale interesse verso la mitologia greca, quanto più verso una forma di ibridazione “dell’artista” come servo di un sistema economico-artistico che tanto ha di economico e poco o niente di poetico.
La performance potrà essere visitata da uno spettatore alla volta come é ormai prassi dell’artista da oltre dieci anni a questa parte.
Luigi Antonio Presicce, è nato a Porto Cesareo nel 1976, vive a Firenze. Nel 2007 ha partecipato al Corso Superiore di Arti Visive Fondazione Antonio Ratti, Como, con l’artista Joan Jonas. Nel 2008 a Milano ha partecipato al workshop in Viafarini con l’artista Kim Jones. A Milano, nel 2008 ha fondato Brownmagazine e Brown Project Space. Nel 2011 ha fondato a Lecce “Archiviazioni”. Nel 2012 ha preso parte a Artists in Residence al MACRO, Roma, estendendo l’invito a nove artisti. Dal 2010 è coinvolto nel progetto Lu Cafausu che promuove La festa dei vivi (che riflettono sulla morte) con il quale è stato invitato da AND AND AND a dOCUMENTA13, Kassel.
Dal 2016 è membro della Fondazione Lac o le Mon, San Cesario di Lecce. Con Francesco Lauretta nel 2017 ha creato a Firenze la Scuola di Santa Rosa. Ha partecipato allo Studio Program 2018 presso Artists Allianc inc, New York. Ha curato nel 2018 e 2019, Simposio di pittura, alla Fondazione Lac o le Mon, Extemporanea-play, presso Trebisonda, Perugia e Forme uniche nella continuità dello spazio, presso Rizzuto Gallery, Palermo. Ha vinto l’Epson Art Prize, Fondazione Antonio Ratti, Como (2007), Premio Talenti Emergenti, CCC Strozzina, Palazzo Strozzi, Firenze (2011) e Long Play, MAGA, Gallarate (2012). Dal 2012 è impegnato nel ciclo performativo, Le Storie della Vera Croce e in un progetto di formazione L’Accademia dell’immobilità.

SEVEN YOUNG MEN AND SEVEN MAIDENS
Androgyus was killed. Minosse, king of Crete, established that the Athenians who killed his son, each year gave him seven young men and seven maidens. These children were sacrificed, given to the Minotaur, stepson of Minos, half man and half bull forever locked in the labyrinth of Daedalus.
The artist continues his interest not towards the myth, but towards the symbol of the bull for the American economy and therefore for the world. Infact, Presicce has recently completed a period of residency at the Artist Alliance inc studio program in New York where he created a performance entitled The birth of Monotaure.
The intentions of the performance were evidently turned towards what today has become the image of the bull for Wall Street and the consequent fall-out of this imaginary in the real exasperated economic drift of the art world.
When the Italian sculptor Arturo Di Modica at night illegally installed his enormous bronze bull at the gates of what is the seat of world monetary traffic, he did not even imagine that this would never be removed or that it would become the emblem of an economic society. The term “bull market” indicates today a stock market that has been rising.
The artist in this new performance deals with the myth of the Minotaur, but without having a real interest in Greek mythology, as much as towards a form of hybridization “of the artist” as a service of an economic-artistic system that has so much of economic and little or nothing poetic.
The performance can be visited by one viewer at a time as it is now the artist’s practice for over ten years now.
Luigi Presicce, was born in Porto Cesareo (Lecce) in 1976, he lives and works in Florence. In 2007 he participated in the Advanced Course of Visual Arts (CSAV) at the Ratti Foundation in Como with the American artist Joan Jonas. In 2008, as part of Artist in Residence, he participated in the workshop in Viafarini in Milan with the American artist Kim Jones. In Milan, in 2008 he founded Brownmagazine and later Brown Project Space. In 2011 he founded “Archiviazioni”. In 2012 he took part in Artists in Residence at MACRO, Rome, extending his invitation to other artists. From 2010 is involved in the project Lu Cafausu which promotes The feast of living people (reflecting on death) and with which he was invited by AND AND AND a dOCUMENTA13, Kassel. Since 2016 he is a founding member of the Lac o le Mon Foundation, San Cesario di Lecce. With Francesco Lauretta since 2017 he is part of the Santa Rosa School, Florence. In 2018 and 2019 he curated a painting symposium, at the Lac o le Mon Foundation, Extemporanea-play near Trebisonda, Perugia and Unique form in the continuità of space, at Rizzuto Gallery, Palermo. He won the Epson Art Prize, the Antonio Ratti Foundation, Como (200), the Emerging Talents Awar, CCC Strozzina, Palazzo Strozzi, Florence (2011) and Long Play, MAGA, Gallarate (2012). Since 2012 he has been involved in the performance cycle, Le Storie della Vera Croce and in a training project The Academy of immobility.
